Along the road to Philadelphia and nine miles from Alexandria is Nine Mile, a rural community with few citizens and fewer amenities. Embedded in a hill made of solid rock and blood-red bauxite rich earth, Nine Mile is the birthplace of Reggae superstar Bob Marley and the site of the Bob Marley Mausoleum. Jamaica First Newspaper:
The weekly Jamaica Courant was our first newspaper. The first printing press was started in 1718 and the 1st issue was printed on 28 May 1718 by R. Baldwin and sold for one bit which was then worth seven pence half-penny.
